The Haywood Chamber of Commerce is delighted to celebrate the Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting of Shining Rock Angler & Outfitters, a family‑owned fly shop and guide service rooted right here in Waynesville.

Shining Rock is run by Josh and Nina Whorton and their son Maclane, who bring together deep industry expertise, a love for the outdoors, and the easygoing charm of a true mountain “mom‑and‑pop.” Their shop is built on passion, conservation, and community — a place where anglers of all levels can learn, gather, and feel at home.

About the Whorton Family & Their Mission

For Josh, fly fishing isn’t just a hobby — it’s a 25‑year career and lifelong calling. After decades of guiding across Western NC and the Lowcountry, he and Nina made the leap to open the shop they’d always dreamed of. Together with Maclane, they’ve created a welcoming space where:
