Scott T. Hamilton

President and CEO of the Golden LEAF Foundation

Scott T. Hamilton leads statewide efforts to advance economic opportunity in North Carolina’s tobacco‑dependent and economically distressed communities. Since his appointment in 2019, Golden LEAF has awarded more than $442 million in project funding, along with major investments in scholarships and school initiatives. Scott previously served as Executive Director of the Appalachian Regional Commission and held multiple leadership roles in North Carolina economic development, including President and CEO of AdvantageWest. He holds a degree from UNC Greensboro, extensive professional training in economic development, and an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Methodist University. A past president of the NC Economic Development Association, Scott continues to serve on boards and commissions that strengthen North Carolina’s workforce and economic vitality.

Pigeon River Bikes

Pigeon River Bikes is a nonprofit, volunteer‑powered community bike project dedicated to expanding bike accessibility across Haywood County. Rooted in collaboration and a love for cycling, the organization provides bicycles along with the tools and knowledge needed to maintain them, ensuring riders of all ages and backgrounds have a safe, affordable, and sustainable way to get moving. Guided by values of accessibility, teamwork, ecological responsibility, and joyful community engagement, Pigeon River Bikes is building a local culture where cycling is celebrated and everyone has the opportunity to ride.
